Samsung Galaxy S10e
Samsung's Galaxy S10e (Review) was launched as a compact and affordable version of the flagship Galaxy S10. It was lauded for its petite form factor while keeping the hardware and cameras mostly similar as the bigger Galaxy S10. However, the one area where the Galaxy S10e fell short was in the battery department as it offered a small 3,100mAh battery. Samsung could be fixing this with the Galaxy S11e as it is being reported that the phone will come with a surprisingly big battery.
The Galaxy S11e will house a 3,800mAh or 3,900mAh battery capacity, according to a report by SamMobile. This would be quite an upgrade over the Galaxy S10e, which comes with a measly 3,100mAh capacity. It could also mean the Galaxy S11e will pack a battery bigger than the one on the Galaxy S10, which is 3,400mAh.
Separately, tipster Ice Universe claims the Galaxy S11e could offer a battery capacity as big as 4,000mAh due to the due to the battery shape changing from rectangular to square. The new battery shape could also mean some changes to the design of the internal motherboard.
With the Galaxy S11e tipped to come with up to 4,000mAh battery, the tipster says the Galaxy S11+ model could touch 5,000mAh. The large battery would be able to support a display with high refresh rate and 5G, based on past rumours that the Galaxy S11 series will come with 90Hz displays.
Samsung is expected to launch the Galaxy S11 series in February. While the company has not confirmed this yet, it is expected to launch three models like it did with the Galaxy S10. So we expect to see a compact and affordable Galaxy S11e. Compact phones are problematic for their compact batteries. However, the Galaxy S11e will look to solve this problem and may just change consumers perspectives about compact phones.
Interestingly, it was also reported recently that Samsung is working on a Galaxy S10 Lite smartphone that could pack a 4,370mAh battery, which would be the biggest capacity yet on a Galaxy S flagship phone. Rumours about the Galaxy S10 Lite and Galaxy S11e seems to suggest that Samsung is done offering small batteries on its high-end phones.
